The Ecole is an international boarding school located in the Canton of Bern, Switzerland. The Bernese Alps is a perfect backdrop for our progressive educational program, where deep experiential learning is possible. Our pastoral campus, surrounded by pristine meadows and verdant woods offers a sheltered and peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of the big city, yet all the required amenities are just a stone’s throw away.

The Ecole is located in the canton of Bern, in the Swiss Alps. We are situated between Luzern and Interlaken, accessible by public transport. You can reach our school by car, using the map here. Or visit us by public transport, with bus links from Brünig Hasliberg with train connections to Lucerne and Interlaken, or from Hasliberg Reuti with a gondola connection to Meiringen.

A Progressive International Boarding School in a Pristine Natural Setting

The Ecole d’Humanité is an international boarding school located in the Bernese Alps of Switzerland. Our campus is tucked away between mountain peaks, in a safe, rural landscape, about equidistant from Lucerne and Interlaken. With cool mountain breezes, the scent of fresh-cut hay, and the gentle sound of cowbells, the Ecole campus enjoys a location unmatched in beauty.

Meiringen, a well-appointed town of approximately 5,000 people, is accessible by a short gondola ride. The town features grocery stores, pharmacies, medical and dental practices, and several outdoor outfitters.

Our school is surrounded by stunning mountain vistas, traditional Swiss farms, bubbling mountain streams, and peaceful green forests. Trails wind through our campus, linking the Ecole to a national network of hiking paths and biking routes, providing boundless opportunities to explore the stunning landscape of the Swiss Alps.

A Swiss International School Minutes from a Ski Resort 

The Ecole campus is located just minutes from a quiet but expansive ski resort with more than 60 kilometers of ski and snowboarding pistes, and a skiable vertical of 1,400 meters. The ski resort features 13 lifts, a variety of different terrains, and an impressive freestyle park. All students at the Ecole take skiing or snowboarding lessons, and many students choose to spend their free time on the mountain. The ski resort also offers winter hiking and snowshoeing trails, and two extensive tobogganing runs.

 

An Ideal Location for Adventure Seekers

The Ecole d’Humanité is an ideal location for adventure seekers and outdoor lovers, and our campus is a great jumping-off point from which to explore the wilderness.

Our international boarding and day school is encircled by an extensive network of trails for hiking, biking, and trail running, giving us an ideal location for adventures big and small. Novice outdoors people can ramble down gentle wooded paths or take a cool dip in the nearby swimming lake. For the more intrepid, there are innumerable mountaineering opportunities in our region for students to explore with our staff who are trained and certified by the Swiss Alpine Club. 

Our campus has access to a newly-built pump track for skateboarders, rollerbladers and BMX bikers, as well as a sports field for team sports.
