The Ecole d’Humanité’s co-curricular program nourishes the creative, athletic and personal development of our students, while teaching them valuable life skills.

An American High School Curriculum in Switzerland

The US High School curriculum at the Ecole d’Humanité allows  students  to delve deeply into core academic subjects. Our classes are held in small, multi-aged groups, and are structured more like university seminars than typical high school classes. In consultation with their academic advisors, students select courses not according to age or grade, but rather to interest and readiness. This allows our students to challenge themselves with more advanced classes when they’re able to, and receive support where needed.

Thematic topics guide our boarding school’s classes and cater to students’ interests and passions. Classes organized around compelling themes captivate students’ curiosity,  and motivate them as they build their knowledge base and acquire new intellectual skills.

How we Learn

 AP® Curriculum

At the Ecole d’Humanité, students can take courses in our AP™ Program and work towards an Advanced Placement International Diploma (APID)™. The APID™ is an aspirational program and an internationally recognized credential that opens doors to universities around the world. Students are guided toward educational excellence through the benefits of the Ecole’s small classes, individualized support, and focused instruction.

The Co-Curricular Program

The Ecole d’Humanité’s co-curricular program stands side by side with our rigorous academic program, allowing our students to explore diverse areas of interest. Through the breadth and depth of our co-curricular offerings, students develop new passions, discover hidden talents, and uncover unknown reserves of grit and perseverance. The co-curricular program at the Ecole d’Humanité is organized in three parts: the arts; handcrafts; and sports and outdoors. Students are required to select courses from each category, which encourages them to broaden their experience and discover new interests.

In courses such as ski-touring, blacksmithing,  trail running, ceramics, theater, dance, mountain biking, climbing, and beekeeping,  students have the opportunity to pursue interests that will inspire a lifetime of curiosity and learning.
