A Night of Music to End the Term

Tuesday, 10. December 2013

by Daniel Davis Wood

As is traditional at the end of each trimester, the last Tuesday night of Fall Term was given over to a Music Evening featuring performances from more than a dozen Ecole students.

Opening with Christmas carols performed on the flute and the fiddle, the evening went on to showcase the talents of students on guitar, piano, woodwinds, and strings, as well as shining a spotlight on several of our most gifted vocalists. Sometimes solo, sometimes in pairs, and sometimes playing in bands, students as well as several teachers took to the stage to perform about twenty different pieces of music, from old folk songs to more contemporary tunes.

Our students work hard every term to hone their musical talents — often devoting several of their afternoon hours to music lessons and practice time — and our dedicated music teachers, Ernst and Sigrid Thöni, keep an eye on them every step of the way to encourage them to show off their talents on nights like this one.
