"Voyelles" - Our answer to Arthur Rimbaud's poem

Wednesday, 21. November 2018

We have created this story. It is a universal story. The story of the human race locked up in its prejudices, its fears, and its egoism. We, The Matura 10 class, we, Karuna’s dance class, danced and acted out the story of the glaciers. Five glaciers come to the king of the world and tell him:”King! We are melting and when we are gone you will die.” The king does not want to die and orders his alchemist to prepare a drink for him that will make him immortal. Climate change is very scary for the King and his ministers. The king becomes enraged five times and five times his anger makes a crack in the universe. Through these cracks the dancers come, bringing the 5 vowels a, e, i, u and o. The daughter of the king helps the dancers break through the cracks and hereby risks her life.

At the start there was a poem by Arthur Rimbaud “Les Voyelles”. The play was our response to the poem.
